The Eternal Truth...

There are only 3 ways to write a blog... The Right Way, The Wrong Way and MY Way :-)

Programming Myself....

If you want something you never had, you must do something you never have done!!! - That's meee!!! can't be better:-)

Matrix

This is awesome. I just finished watching Matrix on HBO.  I think i may have watched the movie a lot of time now. Quite understandably, my dad was also convinced about that , as i reeled the dialogues even before they came on screen. It looked like either i was  the transcript writer or the real ONE ;-)

Some excerpts for you :-) and BTB, if you still have not watched the movie - you are the loser :-)

Morpheus: How is he?
Tank: Ten hours straight. He's a machine

Neo: I know Kung Fu.
Morpheus: Show me

Morpheus: How did I beat you?
Neo: Your too fast.
Morpheus: Do you believe that my being stronger or faster has anything to do with my muscles in this place? You think that's air you're breathing now?... Again.

Tank: Okay. What do you need, besides a miracle?
Neo: Guns. Lots of guns.

Trinity: Neo, no one has ever done anything like this.
Neo: That's why it's going to work

Agent Smith: Do you hear that, Mr. Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability. That is the sound of your death. Goodbye, Mr. Anderson.
Neo: My name is Neo

Earth Hour

This is a a nice initiative. But i think Bengaluru is rather progressive. We do this everyday. Thanks to BESCOM ;-) If you really think about it, it looks like BESCOM has had grants from them . The unholy power cuts is self explanatory :-) Cheers to BESCOM, for playing their part in establishing a healthy earth :-)

Greetings!!!

Greetings of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada (Samvatsararambh) : Hindu new year

The wheel of Time that begins on Samvatsararambh day is related to the Origin of the Universe and is beneficial for mankind. The period commencing on 1st January is related to the Dissolution of the Universe and is harmful. Hence, celebrate the Samvatsararambh day as the New Year day! The first Holy festival which marks the beginning of the New Year, new month and new day for Hindus falls on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. It is known as Gudi Padwa (in Maharashtra), Yugadi (in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh), Vishu in Kerala and many different name in various states of India.

This Hindu New Year Day is celebrated by worshiping and hoisting the 'Dharmadhwaj' (flag) immediately after sunrise. On this day, Prajapati frequencies arrive on Earth in larger proportions. The 'kalash' on the Dharmadhwaj facilitates the entry of these frequencies into the house. Neem leaves have greater ability to absorb Prajapati frequencies, hence we should take this as prasad. The 'Dharmadhwaj' should be lowered before sunset. Using the 'dhwaj-kalash' for drinking water helps us avail of these frequencies the entire year.

Paths of Glory

Paths of glory is a novel written by Jeffery Archer.  Its a fascinating read about the life of a great man. Archer raises questions as to whether Edmund Hilary was in deed the first to scale the summit of Everest ? Well  he came back alive but Mallory( the protagonist) possibly beat him there. You just have to read the novel to find out the secrets :-)

BTB, i noticed that Archer waited for Edmund Hillary to die before he published the book. Maybe it could have opened the Pandora's box

Stress Buster!!!

There are only 2 real stress busters for me

1. My play station and the awesome set of games I have. This forces me to forget my worries

2. My daughter Niyanthri. She makes me forget all worries.

Call of Duty - World at war

I am a gunny bag today. My eyes are sore and is burning. I just did not get my quota of sleep. It's just that COD has deprived me of human's basic need. I was up all night yesterday after seeing Niyanthri to bed. COD completely changes the rules of engagement by redefining world war -2  gaming. The unforgiving battles against new ferocious enemy in the climatic European and pacific countries will keep you glued to your seat. It's been an awesome experience.

Lessons learnt :

1.The flamethrower and rocket launchers are the most dangerous equipments and if you do not operate correctly you end up dying

2. Do not play these games in the night. There would be no one to disturb you and you will not know how long you have played the game before sun begins to rise

3. Every mission is new, don't ride too much on luck

4. If you play games @ night , make sure you have some munchies next to you. You will feel hungry. I was tempted to eat Niyanthri's cerelac :-)

New lesson

I relate to Niyanthri better than most of the adults I know. They are genuine, passionate, ponderous, happy, kind, considerate, adorable, creative, silly, energetic, honest, confident, and interesting

Lucky Oye!!!

Ok, this one needs a mention. Yesterday, i wanted to check my bank balance. Yes, i was preparing for the recession :-( . When i noticed that i was not getting connected to Internet. On pinging , i found that while my wireless router was working, the ADSL router from BSNL had turned dead meat. I did all my troubleshooting skills including replacing the adapter but no go.

So i just called my friend who works in BSNL - IP TV division to help me. He directed me to contact the customer support and assured that BSNL would provide me with another router. He also mentioned to me that there was an offer that was running which meant that i could take a new router for half the cost. I was thrilled.  So went off to bed, knowing that i had to get the new router tomorrow.

Today, i called up BSNL customer care and like always, they gave me wrong, incomplete answer in a very assuring manner. I ended up at the wrong outlet only to be told that no such offer of half price was there. So i submitted myself to spend money on this new router. But just a few days back, my hunch with technology gadgets has been good( read Playstation). So i thought it would be good if i can have this router checked by a repair guy before i went to get a new one from BSNL. But unfortunately the shop was not yet opened, so thought of dropping in at the ATM to draw some money to buy the router. Bad luck!!! No money in ATM. All these did not deter me and i rushed to this new place , least i should be late for office.

On reaching there, i found out that these guys were very very casual. No one "responsible" was even present to hear my case. So waited there for 15 mins questioning anyone i saw. Meanwhile i saw an old man  going up and down with some routers in his hand. I asked him if he could help me. He spoke to me uttara kannada style, and i obliged. Finally he tested the router and declared that my router was dead and i was to give an application for a new router. They would then process it and i would be allotted a router. Out of sheet impatience i asked the man in uttar kannada style - "saara eee router ge bere power supply koti nodbahudalla, yenta addilla alla? " . So the man confirmed in affirmation and got a new power supply and presto my router started working.  He asked me " yenta ooru?" . "Putturu".

"Eee powersupply togondu hogu maraya, adi illa. Naan nodi yenadru madthene maraya. Nee hogo maraya "

I just smiled , took the Power supply and walked away. Oye Lucky !!!!!! Another few hundred bucks saved ;-)

6 sixes in an over

Well I am a humble kid. Especially when a supernatural feat is achieved, I always downplay. I really don't want to talk about it, but since cricket is a religion in this part of  the world, you can read it over HERE or HERE.

Both relate to the same incident , but they will surely get you a new high...

Alternative to Itune

I am a regular user of my IPOD - touch. But what irritates me to the core is the music transfer. Steve spent a good amount of time on this beautiful gadget but i think he left the Itunes to be built by some iterns. Either i don't share thier thought process or the interns were retards when they designed it. I still have not managed to transfer the songs , movies and pics without erasing the whole stuff once.

But, then ppl with my "disease" can breathe easy. After searching and trying various other ipod managers, i came across a software called "Sharepod" which eases your pain. Give it a shot, you will be bowled by its ease. But just remember, the prerequisite for this ipod manager is - .Net framework 2.0 and above. Also you will need Itunes installed on your box.

Make Hay!!!

Warriors Orochi

Without warning, the Serpent King Orochi descended from the heavens. Using his unworldly powers to shatter time and space, Orochi kidnapped the strongest, wisest and most courageous warriors from Ancient China and Feudal Japan to test his might against the heroes of these ages. Most of the great armies of these two periods would succumb to the might of Orochi. Yet powerful warriors remain and are ready to continue the fight. Now, the greatest showdown in history is about to take place

All that being said, I find Warriors Orochi to be nearly unplayable. I've never had an issue with the difficulty of these games before, but even with more-than-reasonable leveling you are overpowered rather than superpowered. The appeal of these games has always been one character who can (beyond reason) plow through hundreds of opposing warriors. In Orochi, you are battered by minions and rendered immobile by officers constantly. It leaves you with a feeling of helplessness and frustration - it took me five tries to beat even the second (one star difficulty) battle. Besides the combat, I find the menu system to be completely unintuitive. Some nice options from the previous games are incorporated, such as leveling weapons, but for the most part having to organize/combine weapons or officers appears to be pointless and time-consuming. I will only pick this game to play only if all my other DVD's burn out.

Sehwag effect

Normally when Sehwag gets in mood, there is only one thing that happens - Mayhem. This is exactly what he did in the 4th ODI against NZ. But I had an inkling that this was due when I watched Sehwag announce his arrival in NZ with 3 consecutive 6's .

Well' I am not going to blog about Sehwag's awesome form or his disdain attitude towards NZ bowlers, but what is sure to be written is Sehwag's effect on my lil daughter :-)

Well, i woke up early today to catch up the last ODI. Thanks to my daughter's 5 am alarm, but unfortunately  the match was being delayed because of rain and bad weather. Meanwhile wifey was trying to feed milk to Niyanthri but with no luck. Niyanthri would hold the bottle but would not suck. She would just stare at everyone but not a drop would guzzle down her throat. I entered the scene and seeing wifey vexed  took the milk bottle and tried to feed Niyanthri. Well she started her usual taunts and would not give in. So i switched on the TV to distract her from her current behavior and browsed to watch the highlights of 4th ODI. For some reason, the moment Sehwag hit the screen, Niyanthri was excited and then, seeing Sehwag blistering away, Niyanthri guzzled down the entire milk watching Sehwag in awe!!!!

Everyone at home were puzzled as to how i managed to do that. Infact my mom made it a point that i feed Niyanthri always as i seemed  to have a technique :-)

But who cares, end of the day, Niyanthri drank her milk.... & Sehwag - Jai Ho!!!!!

Lessons learnt

Niyanthri is 6 months old now. She has been a source of inspiration for me ever since she has joined our family. I am learning more and more things from her. Some of the things are new to me or things that i always knew but never implemented for a variety of reasons. Here is what Niyanthri has been teaching me

1. Niyanthri wears her feelings on her face. First thing i wake up in the morning is to see her face. She lets go that beautiful smile and i feel my day is made. She hits the ground running every morning with sheer enthusiasm. How amazing, you never have to guess when she is happy, sad, troubled or angry. It's all over her face. Gosh!!! i hope i could be like that

2.She has a single focus while doing things. If she is engrossed with her lil doll, she will hardly look or respond to your call , even if you scream at top of your head. I know multi tasking is good, but single focus is better

3.Niyanthri observes the people around them with enthusiastic intensity.  She typically mimics the actions that work and ignore the ones that don’t.

4. Niyanthri uses her imagination to play around with the small sensless objects like piece of cloth or a tumbler.

5. When dealt with unexpected things, she just gives a chucke and goes on( Read : typically when she poops ;-))

6. She let me know - expect the unexpected. Day's when we plan to go out with her, never happen on time, nights i might miss my sleep

7. Niyanthri will not talk to anybody, but she will allow others to talk about her ;-) . Can anyone think about allowing such an act?

8. Last but not the least, she is fearless. you take her up and she chuckes not knowing the fear if we drop her :-) Put yourself "out there" by being fearless

PS2 back to life

After serving me for 3 yearns now, my PS2 stopped reading my fav games. I was very concerned that it would mean end of my gaming life ;-(. So hurriedly I took the playstation to Sony service repair center. But unfortunately the service guy would not help me much, simply because - it was out of warranty & mine was modded. But i really would like to know who in our country would - buy a international warrant for an device you buy outside india and that too for more than a year. & then who would pay 2K for each game to satisfy your gaming quench? What would National market guys do?

Well, i then began my journey to find a repair center in Bangalore for fixing my PS2. After hours of googling, i found nothing. Fortunately I had heard of a electronics repair shop near my home who was supposed to be good in such things. I just took my PS2 there. The moment he saw the PS2, he reeled out the model, the mod chip and other details which convinced me that he was the ONE. But on further investigation, he found that the lens was bad and needed a replacement. Here is where another journey began. All his contacts ran dry and he could not find the lens. We had to either ship the PS2 itself to chennai or mumbai , as it was available there. And for some reason, we found that days were passing by and no progress.

So again, i started getting impatient and started to quiz my friends if they knew any repair shop. Fortunately Phani passed me this message from his forum - "There’s one shop on the church street (It’s in a small complex and easily locatable), its right opposite to ‘Oye Amritsar’.. I don’t remember the name of the shop, but I got my PS2 repaired from there"  . I decided to take it to that guy.

So i went back to the guy who had my PS2 , faked a reason and collected it back from him. And then what happened after that is miraculous.  I just got it home and something told me to plug the PS2 and see. I just did that and presto my PS2 began playing all my games ;-) I could not control my happiness :-) ( You would understand that only if you are a gaming freak)

I am off this weekend to National market to pick up more titles - most wanted being - call of duty - world @ wars.

As Phani rightly put it - GOD ....Guaranteed Overnight Delivery ... for your prayers :))

Have you tried this?

To keep Niyanthri occupied or to divert her attention while she having her daily dose of milk/cereals , i need to play buffoon. For those of you who would want to try things to amuse their little one, see below :-)

Yes, and if you are curious, it's natural for me ;-)

World travel

I want to hang a map of the world in my house then I’m gonna put pins into all the locations that I’ve traveled to. But first I’m gonna have to travel to the top two corners of the map so it won’t fall down

Ok, this was not by me, but by Mitch Hedberg in one of his stand up comedy shows. This  guys is good.
